During the recent years the Ganga River experience the flash flood downstream causing damage the surrounding area but change is also happened in the braided pattern, width and the reach of the river. Effort has been made to control the damage and shifting of the river by constructing the River Training Structures along the River flood plain. With time some changes is visible in the River Training Structures as well as in the morphology of the river due the presence of this protection works. Therefore, this study has been carried out to analysis the performance of the River training works and also the changes experience in the channel. The study area includes fifteen stations along the Ganga River from Uttarakhand to Bihar. Multi temporal remote sensing images are used from different years of the same location. By using GIS and Remote sensing technique change in the River protection Structures and also the change and the shift in river is investigate. It has been found that few structures in the study location experience the change and few stations have absence of protection structures in the critical reach of river. The temporal and morphological changes in the river are analyzed by the cross-sections lines in the reach.en_US
