| Abstract: | The adoption of Mobility as a Service (MaaS) is revolutionising urban transportation paradigms worldwide, enhancing accessibility, and reducing reliance on traditional personal vehicle ownership. While MaaS has gained prominence in certain urban settings, its applicability and challenges in unfamiliar regions, mostly India, still need to be explored. This Study endeavours to shed light on the barriers and challenges that may impede MaaS adoption in areas where it is either unknown or not in practice, mainly India. This Study employs a comprehensive survey and interview methodology to assess the profiles and adoption patterns of potential MaaS users in these unfamiliar regions. Participants are queried regarding their awareness of MaaS, the factors influencing their willingness to use such services, and the perceived barriers and concerns associated with MaaS adoption. In-depth interviews have been conducted to gain qualitative insights, and quantitative data will be analysed to identify patterns and correlations. The findings of this research uncover critical factors influencing the adoption of MaaS in unfamiliar regions, as well as the barriers and challenges that may impede its progress. This research is pivotal in informing policymakers, transport authorities, and service providers about the issues that must be addressed in introducing MaaS solutions in areas without prior exposure to this innovative approach. Ultimately, this research underscores the need for comprehensive strategies addressing regulatory, technical, social, and economic aspects to facilitate the integration of MaaS in an unfamiliar region (India) and the Barriers and Challenges associated with its adoption. |
