Abstract: Model study is to finalize various hydraulic parameters of the Project Model study is are conducted at Hydraulic Lab of I.I.T ROORKEE by constructing 2D of the project. For generation of an artificial lake by the way of constructing auto-mechanical operated barrages on the river . The barrage is under construction at about one kilometer downstream of main Bridge (2nd) and just upstream of Bridge . The barrage is comprising of on left side and on right side. The length of barrage on the one side is more, about 240 m. There are twenty such gates with dimensions of 10 m width and 4 m height each, while other barrage on the right side has 11 bays only of the 10m wide each and 11 gates of 4.0 m height. The barrages shall help in creating an artificial lake of 1,500-metre length and about 600-metre width to impound water right from downstream of Bridge. The storage of the lake is nearly 0.0011 Million Acre Feet (MAF) water. In case of flood, all the gates of the barrage will be opened and it will take three and half days to again create pondage up to 4 m height. half days to again create pondage up to 4 m height. The artificial lake shall give a new look and boost tourism . Besides, providing a new look, the presence of the artificial lake will help to lower the temperature in the during summer months to some extent, help in recharging of underground water and provide irrigation facilities.
