Abstract: Granular materials are collections of discrete solid particles that can flow and behave collectively under certain conditions. These materials have unique properties that differ from solids, liquids, and gases due to the interactions between the individual particles. The behaviour of granular materials is influenced by factors such as particle size, shape, density, and the forces acting between them, including friction and cohesion. What makes them fascinating in the realm of particle science and technology is their collective behaviour. When you have a bunch of these particles together, they don't behave like a simple solid or liquid; instead, they exhibit complex behaviours such as flowing, jamming, or even forming structures like sand dunes.
