Abstract: Learning space is the product of design processes that rely on assumptions of relationships between forms of physical space and practices of learning. The awareness between the educational and architectural design features and principles when planning new learning environments has escalated in the last few years. Over the past decade there has been a growing body of knowledge and working examples of new approaches to the design of learning spaces in higher education institutions. Despite this a clear consensus is yet to emerge. Numerous changes are occurring in the learning process. Unfortunately, the prevailing approach to design of modern urban built environment has encouraged the massive transformation and degradation of natural systems and increasing human separation from natural world. In reality there is a nexus between pedagogy, technology and design of learning spaces. Interaction with nature is an important element which is neglected and with the increase in use of technological equipment in the learning spaces, students are cabled to the plug points. Literature Review: The research, Green learning spaces in Institutional campuses, also looks at the relationship between campus planning and specific exemplary learning spaces and landscape in a set of new generation campuses. A key feature of the research is the way these exemplary spaces are integrated into an overall campus plan. To understand how affiliation with nature can affect the learning environment of the students, this dissertation has been carried out in different stages. Initially a background study on various aspects of learning spaces is done and extensive review was carried out in order to establish the background to the study and to begin to explore new approaches to the design of learning spaces.
