Abstract: Now a days, urbanization, population growth and economic prosperity is resulting in an increase in municipal solid waste quantities. Municipal solid waste collected from vegetable market has a high calorific value to microbes due to which the efficiency of CH4 production is enhanced. Biogas as an energy source is cost effective and generates a high quantity of non- exhaustible fuel. Under anaerobic digestion, the organic content is reduced, cow dung slurry along with vegetable waste is used in the bioreactor inoculums. The digested slurry is produced at the end of this process is used as a bio fertilizer. In terms of the factor affecting the biogas production, temperature, pH, C/N ratio are the main factors that contribute to the efficiency of the biogas production. Biodegradable waste can be used in the production of biogas. Biogas solves important problems such as power generation, vehicle fuel and is used for cooking.
