Title: FREQUENCY REGULATION IN ISOLATED MICROGRIDS THROUGH OPTIMAL DROOP GAIN AND VOLTAGE CONTROL
Authors: Kumar, Arun
Issue Date: Aug-2023
Publisher: IIT, Roorkee
Abstract: This thesis demonstrates how to adjust active power droop gains to control the frequency after load changes in isolated microgrids. The control strategy involves an optimal control approach which continuously adjusts the droop gains and voltage set points of DERs until frequency comes in the specified range and enhance the primary frequency response of the system while taking into account the active power sensitivity of the microgrid loads to the system operating voltage. The given control strategy is tested using a five bus microgrid system simulation that involves diesel generators, BESS, constant power loads, constant current loads and constant impedance loads.
