| Abstract: | An Emergency Action Plan is a crucial document for dam owners and operators in case of extreme events such as heavy rain, earthquakes, or cyclones. EAP outlines detailed strategies to prevent or mitigate the consequences of a dam failure or any damages caused to related structures. A dam breach can have devastating impacts on both the economy and human lives. Among all natural disasters, floods are one of the most destructive, and dam often collapses, causing catastrophic flash floods. The Tigra Dam in Madhya Pradesh failed due to overtopping in 1917, and the Machchhu Dam in Gujarat failed in 1979, resulting in the death of around 2000 people - making it the worst dam disaster in India's history. The objectives of this study include the Estimation of Probable Maximum Flood for the Massanjore Dam catchment, Dam break analysis using the HEC-RAS Model, Preparation of inundation Maps of the Flooded region and finally, Preparation of an Emergency Action Plan for the Massanjore Dam. |
