| dc.description.abstract | Urban flooding is one of the most natural disasters that occur annually worldwide and is a serious issue in many regions of the world. This study simulates and analyses the storm water drainage network of Bhopal city, India using the Environmental Protection Agency Storm Water Management Model (EPA SWMM). As inadequate drainage network is one of the main reasons for urban flooding. The main low-lying regions of the city are experiencing drainage congestion as a result of peak runoff and growing development combined with insufficient drainage capacity. SWMM is the major tool which is used for designing and planning the drainage aspects by using mathematical modeling to create a resilient drainage network that can efficiently manage stormwater for both current and anticipated rainfall scenarios. The performance of the urban drainage system in the study area is analyzed for different return period of rainfall. The total infiltration, flooding, runoff from the system is calculated and based on the result generated the performance of low impact development works on different scenarios could be analyzed. | en_US |
