| Abstract: | The project aims to explore the concept of multi objective optimization in traffic signal control, implementing them to balance conflicting objectives of minimizing travel time, reducing emissions, maximizing the capacity, minimizing the vehicle conflict which will enhance the overall road safety thus making it a many objective optimization problem. In urban areas, efficient traffic management is essential to alleviate congestion, reduce environmental impact, and enhance road safety. As cities grow and vehicle numbers increase, traditional traffic control methods often fall short of addressing the complexities of modern traffic systems. This necessitates the adoption of advanced technologies to optimize traffic flow dynamically. This paper aims to compare two distinct traffic control models, focusing on their performance in managing different types of traffic delays. While other critical objectives like capacity, emission, and safety are also considered, this comparison highlights how each model handles the nuanced challenge of delay optimization. |
