Abstract: The ADAS (Advanced driver assistance system) is an essential feature in today’s generation cars. This feature gives different types of audio and visible warning when there is possibility of collision. There are many features of ADAS system like lane detection, collision avoidance, cruise control, automatic braking, steering control, automatic parking etc. Each function works effectively with different types of sensors. Ultrasonic sensors are mainly used for small distances, like if we are in a congested traffic or for parking assistance. I am working with ultrasonic sensors on parameter estimation of magnitude and phase. Different techniques are used for parameter estimation, and with the help of estimated phase we are trying to get the distance. This helps in obstacle detection and collision avoidance. With artificial intelligence and machine learning ADAS now has more features, and our cars is evolving towards fully autonomous. The figure illustrates the various sensor technologies and their specific applications in an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) equipped vehicle.
