Abstract: Accurately predicting the flow discharge compound channels is essential for designing hydraulic structures, flood control measures, and river restoration projects. The abstract of flow discharge prediction in a compound channel involves a comprehensive understanding of the channel's geometry, roughness, and flow regimes. roughness of flood plain and main channel are different. roughness of the main channel is less than flood plain. To check the discharge variation in the compound channel, error analysis is done in terms of Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Percentage Error, and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE). Flow in both homogeneous and heterogeneous compound channels is measured and compared in this study. The depth ratio of the heterogeneous compound channel is less than the homogeneous compound channel. Single Channel method and Divide Channel method are used to calculate discharge in both homogeneous and heterogeneous compound channels. The coherence method is used to check the behaviour of the compound channel by varying the discharge.Longitude Slope and depth ratio play an important role in the flow behaviour of compound channel. The effect of depth ratio and Froude number in the main channel and flood plain is analysed
