Title: STRATEGIC INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR SUSTAINABLE TOURISM IN HAMPI, KARNATAKA
Authors: V K, Sanjay
Issue Date: May-2024
Publisher: IIT, Roorkee
Abstract: This report conducts an in-depth evaluation of the tourism infrastructure at Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Karnataka, with the aim of developing a strategic infrastructure plan that promotes sustainable tourism. Central to this study is the utilization of the Importance-Satisfaction Analysis (ISA) to quantitatively assess tourist perceptions of existing infrastructure. By integrating ISA findings with insights gathered from stakeholder consultations and international benchmarking, the report identifies critical gaps in the current infrastructure and outlines a comprehensive framework for improvement. This strategic approach is designed to enhance visitor experiences, reduce environmental impact, and provide socio-economic benefits to the local community. The ultimate goal is to sustain and enhance the heritage value of Hampi while accommodating growing tourist demands.
