Abstract: India is an extremely diverse subcontinent with a variety of climates and vernacular architectures that respond to them. It also has a diversity in the form of culture as well as people who inhabit these spaces. A lot of architectural forms and styles have developed overtime because of the amalgamation of the effects of climate and the impact of culture. This led to the development of distinct vernacular styles that can be seen throughout the subcontinent. This study aims at understanding the vernacular architecture of the Bhariya tribe who are practicing it as well as the understanding of vernacular architecture through literature studies. This study will attempt at exploring the vernacular architecture of the Bhariya tribe and their unique characteristics by virtue of rituals, traditions and material choices.
