Abstract: Human civilisation is at the zenith of development with the advent and rapid advancement of technology and materials. But like the coexistence of night and day, shadow and night, there have been severe consequences and significant drawbacks of this technical advancement in material engineering. The development of multi-layer undoubtedly provided all the benefits and desired properties of modern-day packaging, such as low cost, lightweight, oxygen barrier, and moisture barrier. Still, at the same time, there has yet to be a well-established, easy-to-implement recycling process that would solve the problem of the generation of abundant landfills and wastes. Due to illogical thinking and dumping of generated plastic garbage in the oceans, marine life is deeply deteriorating by bioaccumulation of plastics which directly affects the food chain. Landfills containing a greater extent of plastics are prone to massive landslides, and incinerating invites the generation of toxic particulate matter. It is high time to shift towards recycling and paper-based packaging with all the required properties of modern-day packaging. Using paper-based packaging to facilitate easy recycling will indeed reduce the environmental burden. A unique coating material and method was developed to facilitate ease of recycling, which aided in increased recyclability.
