Poverty reduction has always been a critical policy goal in India and worldwide. If poverty reduction "alone" is used for evaluating success, India's outcome is poor. Despite fast economic growth and improvements in various growth measures, much of India's Population still needs to improve (Mehta et al., 2018). India is a developing country, whereas Bihar is among the least developed state in India. Around 68.84% population of India lives in rural areas. In contrast, in Bihar, it is 88.7%, and in Madhepura district, around 95% population lives in rural areas (Census, 2011). A shockingly large portion of the country's population experience multi-dimensional deprivation (Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative, 2018). Despite experiencing substantial growth, infrastructure development, and significant investments in Health and Education during the past 75 years, the country remains vulnerable to setbacks that can undo any gains.en_US
