Abstract: | Some efforts have been found for designing efficient red and green emitter with pure colour saturation; however, some more research attention is required for development of blue-emitters for obtaining colour purity with Commission Internationale de L’Éclairage (CIE) coordinates (0.14, 0.08) and high fluorescence lifetime and thermal stability. For obtaining efficient visible energy emitters, besides absorption and fluorescence in visible region, suitable HOMO-LUMO energy levels aligned with adjacent molecular layer, high thermal and morphological stability are to be fulfilled mandatorily. Pyrene, one of the planar polyaromatic hydrocarbons has been utilized as promising candidate in devices such as OLEDs, chemo-sensors, bio labelling, organic thin film transistors and sensors owing to its planar structure, high quantum efficiency, high thermal stability and rigidity, excellent charge transport capacity. Keeping these points in mind, we have devoted some effort in synthesizing pyrene-based blue emitters and reported all the pertinent data in this thesis. This thesis deals with the design, synthesis, structure-property relationship and optoelectronic applications of multi-substituted pyrene-based -conjugated materials by substituting various donor and acceptor groups. The thesis has been partitioned into six chapters. |
