Studies on true coincidence summing in scintillation detectors is gaining increasing attention, due to its use in calculating the efficiencies of multi-gamma emitters and obtaining the efficiency calibration curve for these detectors. In the present work, we have carried our extensive measurements on coincidence summing in scintillation detectors using a source Co-60 that emits two gamma rays, namely 1173 and 1332 keV in cascade. The studies were made with Nal(Tl), LaBr3(Ce), LaC13(Ce) and Csl(Tl) detectors for different values of detector-source separation. Coincidence summing correction values were obtained using Vidmar's method. The experimental results were then compared with those obtained from realistic simulations and a good agreement has been found.en_US
