dc.description.abstract | Government agencies, city planners and others are having to make increasingly complex decisions about city infrastructure, development and planning. These decision makers are leveraging new technologies that allow them to collect more data than ever before, from crime statistics to traffic patterns. But how does the city convert that information into actionable and usable data? The answer is 3D city models. When information is packed into one 3D model, cities can more intelligently use resources. plan for future population changes and predict impending infrastructure needs. There are several ways that 3D models of cities can he developed. A series of images can he taken using airborne imaging with a high-resolution digital camera or new unmanned aerial hardware. 3D data can also be developed through laser scanning. Satellites are another way to collect images. In the present study a method is proposed to create 3D geometly from single satellite image, which is based on the regular geometry of the object which includes the appearance of parallel and perpendicular lines in the image with respect to the camera angle (w. p. K). Using this PFOPCIY the size, shape and position of the object can he reconstructed by reverse engineering. This is the reverse process to project the real world space objects onto a picture plane. | en_US |
