In this dissertation, behavior of R.C. framed buildings has been studied in detail, considering the plan configuration, storey height and effect of modelling of slab and infill. The absence of slab and infill in bare frame analysis has considerable impact on the dynamic behaviour of the building. The main difference is lateral stiffness of the structure and member force when subjected to earthquake. Three types of elements have been chosen for modelling the slab, namely, plate element, shell element and truss element. Similarly two types of infill elements have been considered for modelling infill panel. These are plane stress element and diagonal strut element. Three different types of buildings of G + 3, G + 6 and G + 11 have been chosen with different plan configuration and same plan area for the present study. Total 108 cases have been studied with different modelling combination. It has been observed that modelling of slab and infill place an important role in the overall response of the building. Modelling of slab by plate and shell element has least effect on the response of building as compared to modelling of slab by truss element. It has been observed that infill modelling by diagonal strut element is more realistic as compared to its modelling by plane stress element. In completing modelling of building with slab and infill, the effect of infill is predominant as compared to modelling of slab alone.en_US
