Abstract: | Femtocells represent an effective way to improve capacity of cellular network without increase in the network management costs. Usually deployed by the subscriber in indoor environments, these are low-power, short range base stations that provide a limited coverage area with a better capacity. Interference is the major problem faced by the femtocell because of macroce!l and neighbouring femtocells. Though interference cannot be avoided completely it can be managed by various techniques. Power control is the best way to alleviate interference in femtocells network. Utility based on SINR adaptation with linear pricing is a better way to protect cellular link and maintain the required SINR at femtocells. The modified Utility based on proportional fairness with linear pricing show better performance in term of power consumption. Performance of energy efficient utility with convex pricing is observed and discussed. In this dissertation, Cross tier interference management techniques such as Distributed dynamic spectrum access and power allocation, classification of MUs are discussed and simulated to mitigate interference. |
