dc.description.abstract | In this thesis, the affect of various aspect of basin like damping, resonance, impedance contrast and basin edge effect on the ground motion characteristics is studied. The shape and size of the basin also profoundly influence the important characteristics-amplitude, frequency and duration- of strong ground motion. The main objective of my study is to reveal the sitecity interaction consequence with respect to free-field on basin ground motion characteristics. Researchers concluded that the amplitude of the seismic ground motion is strongly reduced due to effect of city-site interaction over the basin and amplified at the edges of the city. The influence of the structures (buildings) situated on basin deserve a particular attention for the purpose of cost effective earthquake-resistant design and seismic microzonation. | en_US |
