Abstract: The objective of this study is to determine noise characteristics of strong motion sensor and development of software for real time testing of EEW algorithms. Determination of noise characteristics of sensor is required to test suitability of sensors for their installation at large network of sensor for EEW system. Software for real-time testing of EEW algorithms has been developed using VB.Net frame work. Need was felt for such software as it is economically not possible to create earthquake like environment with the help of shake table in laboratory and thus most of the EEW algorithms were tested in off-line mode. Thus it was not possible to test perfonnance of code and algorithms in real life scenario
