Surface engineering is a technology which is applicable to wide range of industrial sectors. It involves altering the properties of the surface basically to overcome the problem of wear. Nowadays wear is the most common and unavoidable problem of mechanical components such as automobiles, aircrafts engine, construction equipments etc. Wear affects the life of a component and also reduces the performance of the mechanical components. Nowadays thermal spray coatings are gaining wide interest to overcome this problem. A lot of work is done in 1-I VOF type thermal spray coatings, but there is a scarcity of work in the field of LVOF type If coatings. In the present work, Ni based coating is developed by varying parameters followed by different cooling methods and abrasive wear studies have been conducted. Water quenched coating have better properties as compared to air and furnance cooled.en_US
