dc.description.abstract | Mineral Exploration is the technique of finding ore (Economically viable amount of mineral deposits) for mining. The selection of an area for mineral exploration is considered to be a crucial step. The most suitable area is the geologic field or terrain that will have good amount of deposits as well as easily explorable, cheaply and quickly. Selection of the area is based on ore genesis theories, preinformation about the deposits occurrences & their formation process for determining potential areas of mining for particular group of mineral deposits. One good example is Olympic Dam style deposits, South Australia where results are in match with gravity and magnetic anomalies. That makes it a very good and economically viable area for mining. Geophysical methods play a very huge role in collecting the geological and geophysical data which are used in mineral exploration. Methods like gravity, magnetic, Induced Polarization, Electromagnetic, Geiger Muller counter for detecting radioactive elements plays a key role in mineral exploration. Instruments in geophysical surveys check for variations in gravity, magnetism, resistivity and many different physical properties of earth to investigate for minerals. The main aim of mineral exploration is the extraction and beneficial sale of mineral products. The mineral exploration and extraction method vary considerably and depends on the mining engineers to choose the methods which are cost efficient, safe and fruitful. It is generally the case that the models created from the data do not exactly match with the exact nature of ore bodies | en_US |
