Abstract: | To investigate the effect of wet end additives on electrokinetics zeta potential and charge demand are used as measuring parameter. The zeta potential and charge demand measured in laboratory used to understand the phenomenon between fiber, fines fillers and wet end chemicals on FPR, FPAR, drainage and also on paper properties. In the experiment recycled paper containing CBS, SOP and IMR was used. The results shows that charge nature of fiber ,Iiens fillers and wet end retention-aid play vital role in affecting the zeta potential and charge demand of furnish. For optimum dosage of retention-aid the charge should be lower and zeta potential near to zero. The zeta potential and charge demand helps in optimzingg the dosage of chemical added to retain maximum of fines, filler and improved the drainage of the web. While there was a slightly reduction in strength property but optical property get improved. |
