LITHOLOGY AND POROSITY DETERMINATION BY USING CROSS PLOTS

Abstract

The manual method to determine the lithology and porosity of formations by using neutrondensity and neutron-sonic is slow and not very accurate .The cross plot curves from hard copy have been digitized and computer programs have been written to derive the desired information from neutron-density and neutron-sonic cross plot data. The same work has also been tried using Microsoft excel but using programs, it has become quite fast to get the information which is more accurate than manual method. Four sets of data from 2 wells have been used to obtain lithology and porosity information from neutron, density and sonic logs using the method of cross plots.
