Abstract: Amplitude variation with offset (AVO) has been widely used in oil and gas industry as an integral part of seismic data processing for detection of hydrocarbon. This technique has been frequently used since 1970 because of its advantage over bright spot technique. The mathematical formulation of AVO theory starts with stress-strain relationship followed by solution of wave equation. The relationship between portioned energy and physical parameters of medium was derived by German geophysicist Karl Bernhard Zoeppritz, who died before the publication of his work in 1919. There set of equations are known as Zoeppritz equations. Zocppritz Equations are nonlinear equation and several linear version of same equation have been derived like Aki-Richard equation, Shuy three term equation etc. In the present work I have generated the synthetic seismogram for 10 models and then nonlinear inversion for each model by using Genetic Algorithm (GA).
