Abstract: Samples from the Danian stage, sedimentary archived foraminiferal chalk, have been recovered from the Kerguelen plateau, leg 183, site 1138A by ODP. These samples have been processed and the distributions of Benthic foraminifers have been documented. The samples consists moderately well preserved Gyroidinoide concinna, Osangularia cordieriana and Cibicides sp. which are characteristic late Cretaceous (Maastrichtian Stage) faunal and Oridorsalis umbonitus and Dentalina sp. which are characteristics of early Palaeocene that is faunal. The presence of Maastrichtian Stage and Danian Stage faunal species infers that the sediments were deposited during Danian Stage.
