Abstract: Porphyrins are having wide range of applications. They are used in biomedical application because of its biocompatibility and development of water-soluble porphyrins. They are useful in medicinal application particularly in bioimaging, cancer treatment and so on. They were utilized as photosensitizers for photovoltaic applications because of their outstanding of HOMO and LUMO energy levels and they have strong absorption bands in the visible region (Soret band at 400-470 nm as well as 500-700 nm regions). By illuminating the porphyrin dyes, they transfer electrons to conduction band of TiO2. 1-lerein, we have synthesized 5.10. 15.20-i'etrakis(4'-aminophenyl)porphyrin (1), 5-(4' -pyridyl)- 10, 1 5,20-tuis(4'-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin (2), 5-(4'-methylpyridini urn iodide)- 10.15,20-iris(4'-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin (3), 5.10.15.20-teiakis(4'-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin (4)1 5. 10, 1 5-triphenyl-20-(4'-aminophenyl)porphyrin (5). 5. 10. I 5-tripropyl-20-(4-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin (6), 5. 10.1 5,20-tetrakis(3-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin(7), 5,10.1 5,20-tezrakis(3,5-dicarboxyphenyl)porphyrin(8). Among all. I and 4 were synthesized to bind with metal nanoparticles, so that. the absorbance of porphyrin will increase, by doing they can be used effectively for bioirnaging and cancer treatment. 2 and 3 were prepared to utilize for DNA binding studies. 2 and 4-8 are to be used for dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) application, by which we can calculate photon to power conversion efficiency (PCE). Again, 7 and 8 used to check the interaction with chitosan encapsulated gold nanoparticles for biosensing application.
