Abstract: Voltage stability monitoring is an essential task for reliable and secure operation of power system networks. As demand on grid increases and possibility effects on the interconnected power system network become more serious. l-Ience Different methods have been industrialized for controlling the voltage stability problem in power system for online applications. Voltage instability is very well-known to the electric industry and now receives extraordinary concentration by power system researchers. Time synchronized data are generated by Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs), readings of PMUs are utilized for voltage stability monitoring. But the costs of Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) are relatively high, so it is necessary to explore the option and scheme to diminish the quantity of PMUs. Phasor Measurement Units (PMU) data are used to produce the stability license for confirming the voltage stability. Stability license is generated by Lyapunov exponents. Lyapunov exponents are calculated by using the voltage time series data from Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs).Firstly number of Phasor Measurement Units (PMU) is reduced and find their locations for voltage stability monitoring is done. Secondly find the voltage stability of the whole system and also find the instability/stability involvement of single buses to the whole system stability. Simulation is done on nine bus western system coordinating council (WSCC) system for different load models.
