dc.description.abstract | The ability of Saccliaroniycopsi jIbuligera SL4 crude laccase and fungal system for treatment of paper mill effluent was investigated. The present work comprises the production of laccase from SL4. Addition of CuSO4 increases the laccase activity as laccases belong to the blue multicopper oxidases. It was observed that the optimum period of incubation for SL4 strain for laccase production is 12 days and pH 4.5 was found to be best suitable for enzyme activity. Paper mill effluent was subjected to eight different treatment process via aerobic, anaerobic, fungal and combination of these. Fungal followed by aerobic found out to be most effective treatment process as it reduces COD by 80%. ABTS was used as a mediator in Laccase Mediator System.Comparison between treatment processes with and without laccase mediator system revealed that LMS system is effective in effluents discharging from paper industry. | en_US |
