Extracted dye had been explored for its use in handmade paper sheets so that it can replace the azo dyes used extensively in the paper industry. Soil sample was explored for the isolation of fungus which can produce color pigment and identified as /asiodiplodia theobrornae by BLAST search of ITS sequence. Solid state and submerged fermentation method had been applied for the production of color pigment. Extracted dye pH and light stability had been studied. CIE L*, a*, b* color coordinates and strength properties of paper dyed with microbial dye had been studied. Feme alum used as the retention aid for the microbial dye on fiber. Paper dyed with microbial dye shows increase in a* coordinate of the color. 2 hour of incubation and 4% alum concentration for 10 au/ g of O.D. pulp was sufficient fur retention of dye and minimum loss in the strength properties of paper sheet.en_US
