The purpose of this dissertation is to explore the algorithms other than the conventional ones like FDM, or FEM for the forward modelling in magnetotelluric. I have used the method RBF-FD (RBF generated Finite Differences) for this purpose. This method is widely used in the fields like fluid dynamics, function approximation etc. This method is theoretically more accurate than FDM for same distribution of nodes. This method does not require structured grid and can be implemented on scattered nodes and thus is highly suitable for implementation in irregular domain. Although my study is limited to the application of this method on a structured grid for the purpose of comparison with FDM schemes.en_US
