Abstract: | Image processing is an area of electrical engineering and applied mathematics that deals with operations on or analysis of signals, in either discrete or continuous time, to perform useful operations on those signals. Image processing involves changing the nature of an image in order to either improve its pictorial information for human interpretation or render it more suitable for autonomous mach inc perception.Signals of interest can include sound, images, time-varying measurement values and sensor data, for example biological data such as control system signals, telecommunication transmission signals such as radio signals, and many others. Signals are analog or digital electrical representations of time-varying or spatial-varying physical quantities. Image noise is the random variation of brightness or color information in images produced by the sensor and circuitry of a scanner or digital camera. In the present work various type of noises in image are studied and the methods to remove them are explored. The quality of an image depends on various factors like environmental disturbance, equipment used to capture the image. Ihe aim of image enhancement is to improve the interpretability or perception of information in images for human viewers, or to provide 'better input for other automated image processing techniques. Comparative study of various image enhancement techniques like histogram equalization, image segmentation, image restoration along with supported results is presented here. |
