Abstract: | Various geological sub-surface conditions have been modelled using Spectral forward modelling algorithm based on 2-D acoustic wave equation. A pseudospectral forward modelling algorithm based on Biot's poro -elastic theory has been used for modelling of poro-clastic medium. Biot's theory is briefly reviewed which is basis for computing the seismic response of fluid-saturated reservoirs. Numerical elements, including boundary conditions, stability, and source function have also been discussed. Effects of spatial variations in fluid viscosity on seismic displacements of the solid frame and of the fluids (oil, gas, and/or water) in the reservoir have been investigated. Certain events on the time section have been identified. Synthetic Cross-well, Vertical Seismic Profiling, and Surface Reflection survey data have been generated for different reservoir models for both acoustic and poro-clastic media. Resulting seismograms and snapshots for poro-clastic cases contain primary and converted reflections from fluid as well as lithologic contacts. For describing a reservoir condition of gas hydrates, 2-D acoustic wave based algorithm has been used. The results matched with same published in various research papers. |
