Abstract: Real-time monitoring of aquifers have assumed importance in current hydrological literature. This can be attempted through various 4-D geophysical methods. An effort is made to gather time-lapse geoelectric data sets and analyse them along with micro-gravity data acquired by earlier student. The geoelectric data sets concern resistivity imaging (2-D sections), IP Imaging (2-D sections) and vertical electrical soundings (1-D) near pumping sites on IITR campus during Pre- pumping During pumping and Post - pumping of groundwater Integrated 4-D geoelectric and micro-gravity studies indicate that dewatering and recharging of subsurface aquifers have clear gravity signatures, but similar contrasting signatures are not clearly evident in geoelectric data. This could mean that resistivity and IP methods cannot assess the amount of water (either depletion or recharging) in time-lapse manner. In 1-D yES, at Shivalik apartment site clear signal is available. So, more data at different locations followed by proper analysis could lead to better results for online monitoring of aquifers, which in turn facilitate us to understand the aquifer performance and estimate relevant hydrological hydrogeological parameters of the aquifer.
