Shaly sand reservoirs frequently occur in oil fields. The presence of shale in reservoirs lowers its porosity and permeability. Shales occur in three ways in shaly sand reservoir: (I) Dispersed shale. Laminated shale. Structural shale. Shale volume can be obtained either SP log or Gamma ray log. Models have been suggested for each of these occurrences to predict the porosity in a shaly sand reservoir. In the present work it is proposed to predict porosity in a shaly sand reservoir on the basis of Thomas-Ste iber approachlmethod. 6. Ien_US
