Abstract: In the present study, numerical studies are carried out to investigate the heat transfer in rectangular duct roughened on square and trapezoidal shaped ribs on one wall using fluid. The fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics are presented for Reynolds numbers based on the hydraulic diameter of the channel ranging from 5000 to 50,000. The ribs to channel height ratio e/H0.I5, and pitch to channel height ratio 0.5.A numerical method with SIMPLE algorithm was adopted. Energy model and realizable k-c turbulence model were chosen. The convergence criteria were set below 10-6. The computational results show that the Realizable k-E turbulence model is selected by comparing the predictions of different turbulence models with Dittus Boelter equation. The heat transfer coefficients enhance in ribbed channel at injection small amount of air. The heat transfer coefficients of air increase by 9% in square shaped ribs. 1-lowever the heat transfer coefficient of air increase by 14% for trapezoidal shaped ribs compared with air in square shaped ribs
