Abstract: | A desiccant air-conditioning process is an alternative technique to achieve the desired cooling comfort in warm and humid climate. A solid desiccant cooling system has been considered and a simulation has been conducted using TRNSYS software to evaluate the potential of this system. Four major cities Trivandrum, Kolkata, Mumbai and New-Delhi of India have been selected for analysis. The performance of solid desiccant cooling system has been evaluated for the climatic condition of these cities. The results obtained from the simulation have been used to get the COP of the system. A comparison of COP for different cities during the month of July has been done. It has been observed that the system shows lower COP for New-Delhi while has higher COP for Trivandrum. From the obtained results it has been observed that the COP varies according to the ambient specific humidity. Regeneration temperature is another important parameter which also depends on ambient specific humidity. A mathematical modeling also has been done to validate the results obtained from the simulation. Moreover, it can be seen that the system easily controls the high humid climate and provide thermal comfort successfully |
