dc.description.abstractRF and microwave filter is one of the indispensable components in wireless communication systems. Multiband RF and Microwave bandpass filters (BPFs) in modern advanced wireless systems had become very popular because of its compact size, high selectivity and low integration cost. Important application of RF and Microwave filters in WLAN, WiMAX, RFID, PCs etc. In the beginning single band filter design was greater challenge for scientists and developed numerous design models and employed using diverse fabrication methods. As the complexity of the communication systems increases, the demand for RF components operating in multiple bands becomes critically important. There have been numerous publications in the area of the filter technology. The increasing demand of wireless communication applications necessitates RF transceivers operating in multiple separated or tunable frequency bands such that users can access various services with a single multimode handset or terminal. To satisfy multiband design challenges, the numerous design of multiband and tunable filter configuration has been extensively investigated in past decades. In this dissertation, multiband band pass filters (BPFs) has been design using proposed internally coupled multimode stepped impedance resonators. The design procedure includes the design of SIR based multiband resonator. A new approach to design multiband BPFs has been introduced. Such multiband BPFs can also be used to design multiband tunable BPF for wireless communication systems.en_US
