Abstract: Transmission lines are used to 'transmit' power to various load and 'distribution' centers. These lines are exposed to 'various' faults and unfavorable 'conditions' so determination of faults on power 'transmission' lines and their location is essential for the 'Protection' and maintenance of a power system. Various 'protective' i'elays and fault recorder systems are installed' to isolate the faulted line and to 'determine' the location of the !iult. But the error is Ii igh especially in 'transmission' li nes. The problem of locating fault on the 'transmission' line is very old from the time the power 'sector establishment itself. At the very start the method of 'locating the fault was made directly' by visual inspections of the line. But by JUSt visually ilispectioll of a very ]on(, transmission line. by both on feet or by 'travelline'. is always extremely time consuming and it is subject to the mountain 'circumstances' and extreme environmental 'conditions' . After all. visual inspection does not always provide that the 'location' of the fault '.N ill he found because in many cases ftiults will not he just 'observed' by having a physical look. Therefore we need a method which can determine the fault location in less time and accurately.
