dc.description.abstract | Planning and optimizing of locations in public water supply systems usually define - the quality and service of the water supply authorities can provide. This thesis therefore, addresses the issue of effective optimizing of locations for establishment of a new water supply treatment plant as critical determinants of urban water supply in Khartoum state: Sudan. The findings of this thesis indicate that the factors governing optimizing the location of water supply treatment system like (water quality in the area, availability of water all over the year, etc.), greatly influence the cost and the volume of water supplied in the study areas. While the Nile River and its Tributaries White and Blue Nile plus wells are considered as major source for water supply in Khartoum state, Sudan. Still there is considerable numbers of a daily deficiency of produced water at the present and of course after three decades from now and according the population increase estimation methods which has been done, the state will not be able to carry out the expected deficiency of the produced drinking water Therefore planning of these sources to manage a better way for serving the inhabitance and their regular demands from potable water with high quality standards, in a daily and continuous base. A projection of population increase for the next 30 years has been estimated and accordingly the daily and expected deficiency from existing WTP will help to determine the capacity of the proposed WTP and the cost of treated water | en_US |
