J of construction and development waste is a gigantic issue faced by all the developed as well as developing countries. To reduce the environmental impact of this waste use of recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) must be encouraged. in India, there is very limited amount of appreciation for the use of RCA in actual construction. It is essential to create awareness about the use of RCA before it is too late. This work investigates the tensile stress-strain behaviour of concrete by performing • splitting tensile test. A modification is made to the conventional testing procedure of splitting tensile test, in order to obtain a stable response in pre cracking and post cracking region. An • attempt has also been made to formulate an equation in such a way that by performing conventional splitting tensile test, the net tensile stress-strain curve can be obtained. In addition to this, a relationship has been established between some parameters of formulated equation with RCA replacement ratio in concrete. RCA replacement ratios of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% were used in this investigation. Based on the trends observed in the results a general equation is given for the values of these parameters.en_US
