Abstract: In this dissertation we propose block inversion algorithm where resistivity and dimension of blocks are considered as parameters. This approach significantly reduces the number of parameters as compared to cell inversion, hence time and effort in Jacobian computations. Due to the over-determined nature of problem we obtain sharp discontinuity model instead of smeared model as obtained in cell inversion. Synthetic data test indicates that for TE-only inversion, block inversion algorithm better resolves both resistive and conductive structures as compared to cell inversion which images conductive structure.
