Abstract: Lakes are a vital part of well being of the city of Bhopal. The city uses lakes to fulfill its requirement of drinking water, attracts tourism, boosts its economy through fisheries & recreational activity and sustains a rich ecosystem of varied lacustrine organisms. But with increasing population and urbanisation, threat from phenomenon like Eutrophication is looming large and its lakes are under threat. In this work we aim to study various physico - chemical parameters of Bhojtal Lake with special reference to Nitrate and Phosphate. Fourteen samples were taken from different sampling sites of Bhojtal Lake. Five samples each were also taken from various sites of Lower Lake and Shahpura Lake to undertake a comparative study of Phosphate and other parameters with those of Bhojtal Lake. Also a comparative analysis of our data with that of previous available data is also carried out using bar graphs, line graphs and contour maps to understand the temporal variations of various parameters.
