Ground water exploration is one the many application of Geophysics. Many geophysical techniques can be used to detect aquifers. Surface NMR is used in determining porosity and permeability of the rock and also the water content up to the depth of 150m. Its the only direct non-invasive geophysical technique for aquifer characterization. The forward model for SNMR is developed to generate the synthetic data. The magnetic field expression at surface due to the current carrying coil is developed for layered earth using recurrence relation for magnetic field expression because of two consecutive layers.. 1D SNMR forward response is generated by evaluating the sensitivity kernel. Effect of loop diameter and earth's inclination on surface NMR will be studied. 1-D SNMR inversion is performed and results are verified from generated synthetic data.en_US
