Abstract: | In the oil and gas industry, reservoir modeling involves the construction of a computer model of a petroleum reservoir, for the purposes of improving estimation of reserves and making decisions regarding the development of the field. The Krishna-Godavari Basin along the eastern coast of the India is considered for the purpose of reservoir modeling in this study. in this basin the block for the purpose of study is under exploration stage and on the basis of previous exploration work some well were drilled in the block in which hydrocarbon has been encountered inside Raghavapuram shale zone. In order to know the economic viability of the reservoir and to get more control on the geophysical studies some more well data is needed for which wells have to be drilled. So, In this study, an attempt is made to understand the lateral extent of the reservoir by doing facies modelling in the zone of interest with the help of interpreted facies along the well location and then comparing the net maps (sum) of facies, inverted acoustic impendence volume and RMS amplitude volume in the cells containing upper and middle facies inside the pay zone identified through well log data. As we know study area is in exploration stage, I started from very basic well synthetic tie in order to start seismic interpretation (horizon picking) along 4 major horizon marker with good level of confidence. Velocity model is generated by using given stacking velocity points and Dix conversion formula to depth convert our time model so that we can create a similar geological section. Whole volume is divided into small cells which will be later filled by property/attribute as per our requirement. in this study I have filled cell by value of facies to generate a facies model. |
