The present work involves the synthesis of chitosan nanoparticles using microwave irradiation. Chitosan solution of 2% w/v was produced by dissolving 20mg of chitosan in 10 mL of 0.5% acetic acid solvent. 0.5% sodium sulphate solution was prepared by dissolving 1mg of sodium sulphate in 2 mL of Millipore water. This is added to the already irradiated chitosan solution followed microwave irradiation to form chitosan nanoparticles. The chitosan nanoparticles were characterised by zeta potential measurements, EDX and TEM analysis. Potential applications of chitosan nanoparticles were discussed.en_US
