The study is focused on the analysis of the fishplate joint in a rail track. A three dimensional model of the track containing the fishplate had been designed in Solid works. All the boundary and material properties conditions had been applied severely as per the guidelines mentioned in the manual made by Indian railways. The finite element analysis of the model was done in ANSYS software. where the study was conducted to analyse the effects of' the static loads on the fishplate joint. Further, the dynamic analysis of the model was also conducted. It was found that the maximum stresses were occurring in the nut-bolt region. Dynamic loads were applied to estimate fatigue life and factor of safety at the rail section. Stress variation because of the change in the speed of the vehicle was also calculated. The variation was found to be varying linearly with the speed.en_US
